Our Ode story:

Get to know the creator:

E.S Williams here (Ella) , the founder of Ode Sunday Supperclub , I am an interdisiplinary creative from South London. Growing up in London, being half Jamaican and belonging to a family of chefs (on my fathers side), I have always understood the impact, importance and cultural relevence food has on the world. I have been a chef since I was 15, starting my journey staging at The Park Lane Hotel. From then I have worked in various restaurants across London, From Angela Hartnett’s Cafe Murano to working at a spree of D&D’s restaurants to now working for Jake Finn at his restaurants Cinder, in both Belsize Park and St John’s Wood. When I started my career I was still juggling full time eduction, completeing A-Levels and a Film degree at The University of the Arts London.

My University Film screening showcase was the initial realisation that I loved interscetional events. I screened a film that centeres around Black British Caribbean culture and made Caribbean food to accompany the event and make it more immersive for the audience. The event wove in two of my favourite loves, Food and Film. From then on I knew whatever I did in life would never be defined by one thing. It would be interscetional and immersive.

When I completed my degree I started working full time, I gained a lot of knowlege not just in how to cook and how to be a chef, I also began to realise what I wanted from life and realised the extent of just how many creative passions I had. Alongside being a chef and studying Film curation I was able to nurture another love of mine (Fashion), from networking alongside fellow creatives at The University of the Arts London. I then added stylist to my evergrowing list of creative endevours, jobs and passions. As my passions and I grew I decided I wanted to connect that all in one space.

Talking late at work one night with my collegue and dear friend Anthea, I realised the supperclub did not have clear framing. Anthea gave me the idea to split each event into different creative fascits, from Food to Fashion and everything imbetween. This conversation was a breakthrough for the supperclub and to me.

From then I have used my past experience in creating events, cooking and networking to bring Ode to the creative masses.
